The journey

From a strand, to eternal light.

About five and a half months, from the first conversation to the day you collect your piece.

A life diamond

Not a keepsake. A diamond.

A life diamond is a lab-grown diamond created from human hair or animal fur.

The carbon in the sample is carefully extracted and processed under extreme heat and pressure, until the atoms rearrange into the crystal lattice of a diamond. It has the same structure, hardness and brilliance as any other diamond — and it is graded as one.

Then it returns to the hand: cut, certified, and set at our Singapore atelier.

Five steps

Every step documented.

  1. Week 1

    Consultation & sample

A first conversation with our founder, at the atelier or by call. We talk through the moment, the design, and a budget that feels right. Then we arrange your sample — sealed and documented from the moment it leaves your hands.

  2. Week 2

    Sample to laboratory

Your sample is dispatched to our laboratory under a documented chain of custody. We let you know once it is confirmed in transit.

  3. Weeks 2 – 16

    Growth & design

The carbon becomes crystal. In parallel, we design your piece together — and the design is approved before the diamond returns.

  4. Weeks 16 – 22

    Crafting at the atelier

The diamond arrives, IGI-certified. It is set and finished by hand at our Singapore atelier, in 18-karat gold or platinum.

  5. Week 23

    Presentation & collection

Your piece is presented to you at the atelier, together with its certificate and documentation.

See it made

From a strand, to a stone.

A short film of the process behind every Lumière diamond — the sample weighed and prepared, the carbon grown into crystal, then cut and polished.

What happens in the laboratory is only half the story. The other half — the design, the setting, the hand-finishing — happens at our Singapore atelier, around your story.

What we need

A strand of hair, or a gathering of fur.

Approximately ten grams for a one-carat diamond, clean and dry. Smaller diamonds need less.

If you only have a little, speak with us before anything else. We will tell you plainly what is possible.

Provenance

Your sample, accounted for.

From collection to the laboratory to our atelier, every hand-over is recorded under a documented chain of custody — and the documentation is yours to keep.

Centre diamonds of 0.5 carat and above are graded by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), and come with their certificate.

Payment

In three parts, as the work is done.

Every quotation is itemised before you commit. You pay as each stage of the work is reached — never all at once.

30%Deposit, on commission
50%When the diamond returns
20%At collection

Should a growth fail at the laboratory, Lumière absorbs the full cost of replacement. You pay nothing further.

Questions

Asked, and answered.

Is a life diamond a real diamond?

Yes. It is a genuine diamond — the same crystal structure, hardness and optical properties as any other. Centre diamonds of 0.5 carat and above are graded and certified by IGI.

How do I know the diamond comes from my sample?

Your sample is sealed at collection and travels under a documented chain of custody — from you, to the laboratory, to our atelier. Each step is recorded, and the documentation is given to you with your piece.

How much hair or fur is needed?

Approximately ten grams for a one-carat diamond, clean and dry. Smaller diamonds need less. If you have only a small amount, speak with us first and we will advise honestly.

Can a diamond be made from a pet's fur?

Yes. A gathering of fur works just as a strand of hair does — the diamond is grown the same way, and is just as genuine.

How long does it take?

About five and a half months from the first conversation to collection. Growth takes around four months; setting and hand-finishing at the atelier follows once the diamond returns.

What does a piece cost?

Pieces begin at around SGD 3,980. Every quotation is itemised in three modules — the diamond, any accent gemstones, and the setting — so you can see exactly what each part costs. See the full rate card.

Which shapes and metals can I choose?

Round, princess, radiant, oval, heart, emerald, cushion, marquise and pear. Round is the base price; other shapes carry a modest multiplier. Pieces are set in 18-karat gold or platinum.

Can I visit the atelier?

Yes — our atelier is in Singapore, and we see clients by appointment. Arrange a time.

Do I need to decide anything at the first conversation?

No. The first conversation is at no cost and no obligation. Many people simply want to understand what is possible — that is exactly what it is for.

Begin

A conversation, before anything.

At no cost, and no obligation.
